How It Started
Where It All Began
Phil’s life changed forever when he was casted as a drummer in the movie TAPS.
The opportunity lead him to work alongside George C. Scott, Timothy Hutton, Sean Penn, Tom Cruise, and Giancarlo Esposito. During that time, cinematographer Owen Roizman inspired Phil’s love for visual storytelling. Phil documented the 4-month filmmaking experience with a Minolta 101 camera, and afterwards, decided to pursue his degree in photography instead of music.
Starting a Photography Studio
In 1983, Phil graduated from Antonelli Institute, and in 1986, he opened his studio in Philadelphia. From the start, he specialized in editorial fashion, model portfolios, and professional headshots for multiple agencies. He began working in weddings and events after capturing bridal fashion for Philadelphia Weddings during the magazine’s early years of operation.
As the photography studio continued to grow, Phil expanded his team with photographers, cinematographers, editors, and designers. By assembling a trustworthy team, he elevated the production experience and expanded the studio’s ability to take on more clients.
Since opening the studio, Phil has evolved with the photography industry, yet remains committed to the fundamentals. He never lost sight of the elements that make a photo look great: intentional lighting, strong composition, and authentic posing.
Core Values
Meaningful photography starts with understanding people. Phil is a careful listener, knows how to read the room, and treats everyone with respect.
Phil is fully present, prepared, and invested. Every project deserves the best work. No exceptions.
Clients hire Phil to move the needle. His visuals strengthen your brand, support your goals, and give you a competitive edge.

Commercial Photographer
Phil views commercial photography as a strategic tool that helps businesses communicate and compete. Phil understands how strong visuals influence perception, trust, and buying decisions. His work supports marketing efforts, strengthens brand identity, and ultimately drives sales.
As a commercial photographer, Phil has the ability to build upon ideas with clients or execute an accurate vision for a creative director. Whether he is collaborating with a marketing team or working one-on-one with a client, Phil is deeply invested in creating photos that are intentional, visually-striking, and strategically aligned with their goals.
Phil’s approach is known for going the extra mile (sometimes literally) to capture shots with wow-factor. Phil wants his work to help clients to tell their story and connect with their audience in a meaningful way.
Approach to Weddings
Weddings are a change of pace from the commercial industry. Phil embraces weddings with the same care he brings to all of his work. He is an ideal fit for family-oriented couples who value meaningful connection and trust his artistic vision to document their day.
Rather than directing every moment, Phil coaches the bride and groom when necessary. For the most part, he allows the day to unfold naturally. His style is rooted in photojournalism, capturing in-between moments and real emotion.
Away From the Camera
Outside of the studio, Phil is rooted in family and rhythm. He enjoys cooking new recipes, walking his Shih Tzu around Philadelphia, and testing his amateur ping pong skills. As a percussionist since the age of five, Phil plays the drums with close friends and other musicians as a stress reliever.
Phil has been married to his wife, Donna, for over 35 years. They got married at Greystone Hall, and together, have a son named Evan. In their free time, Phil and Donna love to relax at home, watch binge-worthy television dramas, and of course, tune into the Philadelphia Eagles game.
