The Moshulu – originally named the Kurt – is one of the last four-masted steel barques built in Germany from 1903-1904. The Germans used the Kurt to ship coal and nitrate across the globe.
In The Godfather: Part 2, the Moshulu is the famous ship that transports young Vito Corleone to Ellis Island in New York City. The Moshulu’s name pans across the screen as Italian immigrants gather on deck to observe the Statue of Liberty.
In 1970, the American Specialty Restaurants Corporation purchased the Moshulu and towed the ship to South Street Seaport Museum in New York. In 1975, the Moshulu was towed to the Penn’s Landing waterfront where it is now an exquisite restaurant, cocktail bar, and event venue for music concerts, charities and weddings.
At the time of this wedding, Fearless Restaurants operates the Moshulu.
