Political Campaign Portrait of DA Candidate Chuck Peruto in Philadelphia

Chuck Peruto runs for district attorney in Philadelphia against incumbent Larry Kranser.

During the production of his political campaign, Phil Kramer captures portraits of Chuck Peruto in his mahogany law office. A famous painting called “Napoleon Crossing the Alps” by Jacques Louis-David hangs in the background. In this artwork, Napoleon Bonaparte represents power and brave leadership. His many military victories eventually saw him crowned emperor of post-revolutionary France.

Creative Process

Chuck Peruto uses this iconic depiction of Napoleon on his white horse to spread his political campaign message. As a Republican in Philadelphia opposing Democratic District Attorney Larry Krasner, Peruto makes his message clear about street violence.

In similar ways to Napoleon Bonaparte, Peruto wants Philadelphia to express its toughness. He runs on the campaign slogan “Enough is Enough.”
