Creative Approach for Real Estate Branding Photos

This assignment for Modern Luxury: Philadelphia Style magazine stationed our team at AKA in University City. We are tasked with capturing the top luxury real estate leaders in the Philly area to appear in their upcoming Spring publication.

On Level 28 at AKA, there are various photo locations, such as the lounge, outdoor terrace, conference room, and private movie theater. Around 3:30PM, the lounge space has less traffic, so this was a perfect time to capture our next real estate professional against the light wood walls.

This real estate agent is Melissa Young of Drayton Young Group at Compass in South Jersey. She specializes in the sports and entertainment division, which relocates high profile athletes to new homes.

In her industry, realness is a mandatory trait, so in this real estate branding photography, we wanted to convey that.

This was a seamless photo session because Melissa arrived ready for the camera.

She brought a clothing option to change into, but we loved what she was already wearing. The full look included baggy denim pants, a pink sweater, a brown fur coat, and of course, designer glasses. Everything worked because it was authentic to her personality.

This was a rare case where the client arrived in an outfit that felt complete. Usually, portrait photography sessions are carefully planned in advance.

Sometimes client overthink their outfit. If the clothes fit, feel comfortable, and are true to you, then wear it.

Posing for the camera is a difficult task, but Phil Kramer and his team guide their clients through this process. However, during this session, Melissa knew how to work it.

The brown jacket and glasses were excellent clothing choices because they gave her something to do with her hands. When she wasn’t holding her jacket, she was biting the frame of her glasses. It was fun, casual, but more importantly, eye-catching.

This look supported her personality instead of hiding it.

If you’re a real estate agent, broker or developer, then this is an important takeaway that you can apply to your portrait photography session.
