In this Philadelphia portrait photography session, Consuelo Vanderbilt Costin visits our studio in Old City. She is appearing in an editorial for Womenz Straight Talk, which is a magazine based in New York. They empower women through exclusive stories and interviews.

Consuelo Vanderbilt Costin is a singer, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. She is the founder of Soho Muse. Womenz Straight Talk is spotlighting her efforts in prison reform. She is advocating for victims of wrongly convicted inmates, most notably, Jimmy Dennis of Philadelphia.

Creative Process

We photograph Consuelo Vanderbilt Costin against green and grey backgrounds for an iconic shot. Portrait photography for magazines needs to look clean. We prefer to avoid a distracting background because it can clash with the text.

Most cover photos for magazines have solid color backgrounds and a color palette that pops. The goal is for potential readers to pick up the magazine because of its bold photo draws their eye.

Among other outfit changes, background adjustments, and lens swaps, Consuelo poses with Jimmy Dennis.
