In Old City, Philly, Bloke's Barbershop and Gentlemen's Emporium has one of the highest reputations in the district. Their latest campaign is a neighborly collaboration with the Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society (PAWS). Grayson Sky organizes the art direction and designs the graphics.
In this barbershop ad campaign, each model poses with an adoptable dog or cat from PAWS. One of the more well-known models is Chuck Gill: a singer with the Philly Pops and magical Santa Claus impressionist.
Rescue animals are difficult to photograph. They're afraid of new environments like our photo studio. As photographers, we need to gain trust to settle their nerves. We use treats and whistles to pose the animals. Since this is an ad campaign, we choose a bold orange background to pop!
These barbershop advertisement photos (and their catchy slogans) ran on public waste bins throughout Old City, Philadelphia.
